Jose Caseñas joined Lawsmith on their work experience programme in February 2023. As a paralegal, Jose deals with a variety of immigration matters and provides assistance by way of research, and handling of applications.

Jose has also assisted in drafting documents (paginated bundles, court orders, witness statements) for litigation matters, liaising with the Courts and the other party, and have assisted providing legal advice under the guidance of the solicitors in the office by way of explaining the terms and effects / provisions in the contract in layman’s terms.

He has experience in handling all types of immigration applications, Appeals, Judicial Reviews and Administrtative Reviews which includes skilled worker (EC/LTR), Human Rights applications, British Naturalisation / Registration, and Employer Sponsor licence applications.

He completes the routine paralegal duties from Tuesday to Friday and on Mondays, he is studying the Legal Practice Course accompanied with integrated Legal Masters (LLM LPC) part-time at BPP University in Holborn. Jose graduated from Swansea University’s Hilary Rodham Clinton School of Law in 2022 with a 2:1 Law Degree LLB(Hons). While at Swansea, he was chosen to represent his university at the Michael Corkery QC Criminal Law Moot held at 5 Paper Buildings. He aspires to become a qualified solicitor and he is expecting to complete this course in the summer of 2024.
